First meeting with Sister project Shift2DC

On 17 March 2025, the DC-POWER consortium met online for the first time with the sister project SHIFT2DC, marking the beginning of a promising collaboration to advance the development and deployment of Direct Current (DC) grids in Europe.

This initial meeting, initiated by project coordinators Jens Merten (CEA-Liten) and Hugo Morais (INESC-ID), provided an excellent opportunity to connect, share insights, and align efforts towards a common goal: empowering DC grids in the energy transition.

A key topic of discussion was the architecture, grounding, and protection schemes of DC grids—an area identified as a priority for both projects. Expert insights were shared by Julien Couyoupétrou from Sécheron SA, a DC-POWER project partner, and Ahmad Makkieh (PhD, MIET) from Schneider Electric, representing the SHIFT2DC consortium.

This fruitful exchange set the tone for future cooperation and knowledge sharing. The two consortia are planning further joint activities and discussions in the coming months, aiming to strengthen synergies and accelerate innovation in the DC grid sector.
